As you work through the materials, your goals by the end will be to:

  • Understand the presenting client complaints/symptoms of fatty acid deficiency so you can pinpoint areas of imbalance to be corrected.
  • Understand the inflammatory cascade, and how it relates to fatty acid intake, so that you can explain it to your client and are able to support your client in making targeted diet and lifestyle changes.
  • Know how to assess fatty acid status via the the different types of fatty acid testing – blood spot, full blood, erythrocyte – so you can evaluate your client’s need for nutritional modulation of fatty acids..
  • Be able to identify the physical exam signs of fatty acid deficiency, so you can monitor for improvement without the expense of frequent lab tests.
  • Be familiar with the INE Spreadsheet for tracking daily Omega 3:Omega 6 ratios, so you can guide your clients to use this tool to achieve optimal by improving their Omega 3:6 ratios.
  • Know which lab tests are appropriate for assessing fatty acid imbalance and how to order the tests for clients.
  • Understand how to interpret various Blood Spot Fatty Acid Profile markers for fatty acid imbalance, so that you can explain to your clients how these markers correlate to their symptoms, and help them create a Nutritional Modulation protocol for symptom relief.
  • Understand the Nutritional Modulation Chart and which foods or supplements contribute to fatty acid balance, so you can support your client to attain the vibrant health they deserve.
  • Be familiar with the case studies presented involving fatty acid imbalance; know how to recognize and address similar patterns in your own clients.
