INE learning objectivesAs you work through the materials, your goals by the end will be to:

  • Understand the presenting client complaints of thyroid dysfunction.
  • Understand the role(s) of chronic physical, mental, environmental, and food stress in thyroid dysfunction.
  • Understand the effects of thyroid dysfunction upon hormones, inflammation, musculo-sketetal tissue, neurology, metabolism, blood sugar, and energy.
  • Understand the symptoms of hyper-thyroid function/tendency, hypo-thyroid function/tendency, and thyroid autoimmune disease (and differences between the three).
  • Be able to identify the physical exam signs of thyroid dysfunction.
  • Be familiar with at-home testing options of thyroid function.
  • Know which lab tests are appropriate for assessing thyroid function and how to order the tests for clients.
  • Understand how to interpret various lab markers for thyroid function and be able to identify the markers for each type of thyroid dysfunction.
  • Identify nutrients, herbs, supplements, and lifestyle protocols to re-balance and optimize client thyroid function and support each of type of thyroid dysfunction.
  • Track client thyroid lab markers, progress, and update client thyroid protocols using the Master Health Tracker spreadsheet
